Energy System
A severe technology crisis followed the landing on New Earth. Both Exodus and Harkback used a technology based on huge amounts of Sponge energy, which became ineffective on the new planet.
Therefore the search for new energy sources became the most important task of the colonists. Soon massive underground reserves of hot water had been located. The depths of New Earth appeard similar to a sponge filled with hot water under high pressure - at least near the Frames landing sites. Unaware of the planet structure, colonists took this anomaly as proper and both factions started the development of geothermal energetics.
Both Exodus and Harkback Cores are basically geothermal energy generators. This basic modification has been updated with an additional terraforming feature, based on the old technology used in the Sponge.
Exodus generators (Geo-Cores) level the ground around themselves and dry the landscape. Harkback generators modify the landscape by letting out the underground waters, cooled due to heat exchange, and flood a certain territory. The underground waters of New Earth have a special chemical structure and therefore - a strange color.
Generators of both sides create an energy network that powers all other buildings. Another legacy of the old times in the Sponge is the ability to capture enemy buildings - factories, research facilities and stationary turrets.
