First generation technologies
First generation technologies allow Legates to produce units of the light class, and light stationary turrets. Units of this class are the smallest and have the lightest armor. But this feature makes light units the most mobile and manoeuvrable - especially in flying mode, when defending your base from light units becomes quite a challenge. Their relative vulnerability is compensated by their numbers - light unit squads have the most units in comparison to other squad types.
Exodus light units and stationary turrets are armed with machine guns, while Harkback light units and turrets are equipped with electrical discharges. Vehicles of this class are equally effective against mobile units and stationary structures.
However, light stationary guns of both factions can only attack ground-based targets and won't protect agains an air strike.
Second generation technologies
The second generation technologies open access to the medium units class and stationary rocket launchers. The units of this class are larger than light units and are equipped with heavier armour. However, the number of units in a medium squad is less compared to a light unit squad.
Stationary rocket launchers provide the most effective defense against aerial attacks, however they are powerless against ground-based units.
Third generation technologies
The third generation technologies open access to the heavy units class and heavy long-range stationary turrets (howitzers or mortars). Heavy units are the largest and most heavily armored of all (except for the special units), but their number in a squad is minimal. Mobile units and stationary turrets of the heavy class are equipped with special shells, developed from "empty" psy-crystals.
Howitzers and mortars are designed not only for defending the base, but also for attacking the enemy base - due to their long range of attack.
