Exodus

"…Exodus forges the Chain of Worlds, and the Chain is the ultimate weapon of the Spirits. Great evil will be crushed with this weapon, and the fallen shell rise again …"

Spiral Ritual, Ceremony of the Arc

"… Measure of Exodus is Purification. Measure of Purification is Suffering. Measure of Suffering is Scourge."

Spiral Ritual, Ceremony of the Turn

Life in Frames for generations of travels through hostile Sponge worlds has changed the society. The Spirit cast, united into the Spirit Council, seen as "the holy and wise keepers of mankind", ruled the people. Spirit Council has power over any dweller of the Frame, made and executed decisions, developed tactics and strategies.

Spirits had the power not only over people's lives, but over their personalities, their consciousness. Strict regulations, scheduled rituals, mandatory mass ceremonies and meditation were the essential of life in a Frame.

These measures were necessary to hold back the hostile reaction of the Sponge environment that reacted to the presence of people, creating monsters and disasters called the Scourge. It ruined the plans of people to explore the Sponge, and now became the companion and the environment for the people of Exodus.

The People of Exodus were bound to the Spirits and their religion. The dogmas of this religion were following: the old Earth has fallen, but there is a new one, a better Promised Land, where the saints of Exodus, lead by Spirits will come; Scourge is a punishment, send for cleansing the souls of people.

The absolute thearchy of Exodus has built a Chain of hundreds of Worlds connected by Corridors from the Old Earth. The will of people, headed to the Promised Land has been broken by the loss of some Frames, or by the emerging of the Harkback and the Empire. They kept on moving to their goal.

At last, the Spirits declared that the New Earth has been found. Only one Exodus Frame - Cluster - remains and enters the Promised Land through the Vortex, a strange portal.
