In the XXI century a new cast of scientists, spiritual leaders and technocrats have appeared.
They chose the name Spirits, and became the leading force in world civilization. The society
has looked upon them as new heroes and even saviors - due to many discoveries in science,
medicine and technology, made by the Spirits. Their methods are based on a fascinating synthesis of
scientific and esoteric knowledge, a new philosophy which had great success.
The greatest achievement of the Spirits was the discovery of the Sponge or the Psychosphere - a new dimension. The structure of this dimension was similar to a sponge, as it contained myriads of isolated worlds.
People could live in Sponge worlds, and navigated between the worlds through special portal structures - Corridors. The greatest treasure of these worlds was the incredible amount of energy that could help people solve many problems back on Earth.
People rushed to explore the newly discovered worlds. This period is known as the Exploration - the first truly global project that united all countries and nations.
But later it turned out that the Psychosphere reacted to the presence of people. This reaction was similar to immune reaction of an infected organism. Sponge created special "antibodies" - hostile creatures, deadly phenomenon and anomalies. All these events were called the Scourge.
Expeditions have been destroyed by monsters and disasters on many Sponge worlds. The euphoria of the first Exploration stages changed to fear.
Sponge infection accessed Earth through the Corridors and progressed rapidly, devouring the planet like a cancerous tumor. The situation was critical. Civilization was on the edge of destruction.
Once again the Spirits have shown themselves as saviors of humanity. The organized and lead the Exodus movement. Their goal was to save mankind and find a new home - the New Earth. But they did not search outer space for a new planet - according to Spirit theories, vast distances between the planets could easily be travelled in the Sponge.
Mobile cities - Frames- have been built for this great travel through the Sponge. They became home for thousands of people, hoping for salvation and the Spirits, who promised this salvation.
